Code to clean up credit card dashes and spaces?

Hi, we're noticing that a lot of our donors have had errors donating on our website because they normally put dashes or spaces in between the numbers on their credit card.

Is there any existing code we can add into our Salesforce Payment Pool page that can automatically clean up the dashes and spaces when our donors hit the submit button? I understand that this is something that has been done on other processing pages and I would love to know if this can be done in C&P.

The best way to deal with this is to add a validating script before posting it to the API.

there are a ton of these validating scripts. The best way is to detect the problem before posting.
