  • Change amount of recurring donation

    Hello,

Is it possible to change the amount of a recurring donation that exists in the system? Or do we need to cancel the existing recurring donation and create a new one for the new amount? It's on the same credit card, the only thing that's changing is the amount to be charged each month.

    Thanks for your help,

    Kestryl Lowrey

    Good day @Klowrey,

Unfortunately we don't have a way to modify the recurring once it has been setup. You need to cancel the recurring and set up a new one with updated information.

Please refer to the following link to cancel the recurring transactions: http://help.clickandpledge.com/custo...rticles/801430

Please note that the transaction to search for is NOT the last recurring but the MASTER recurring. You need the date of the original recurring and that is the one you can cancel.

    Thanks,

      Good day @Klowrey,

If you are using Salesforce you have the credit card information for reprocessing. Simply cancel the one that is currently running and then in Salesforce virtual terminal process the new transaction with the new amount and period.

      Hope this helps.

See below - this reply from Support indicates that we DO have credit card info and can run new transactions? That contradicts what I have heard everywhere else in this Forum.

          Good day!

Recurring amounts cannot be changed and support has answered it correctly.

Currently the only way a recurring transaction may be changed is by cancelling and starting over. This feature has been requested and will be added in the next release of PaaS - release 9 before the end of the year (2014).

Hello Click & Pledge team! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. I had a question regarding changing the amount of an existing recurring donation and found your message (below) stating that the feature would be released by the end of 2014. I have not seen this update, and being 2020, it's a common feature among most other nonprofit donation platforms (as is the capability for the donor to manage their OWN recurring donation). Is there a chance this is going to be updated anytime soon? Additionally, with the current coronavirus crisis, would there be a way to suspend one's recurring donation for a determined amount of time? Many of our recurring donors are food service workers, and many have asked if we can suspend their transactions (instead of canceling) while they're out of work. Thank you!

              Good day kazaroff

We offer setting up recurring with the existing credit card on file. The challenge for changing the amount is how it will affect Salesforce transactions and NPSP's recurrings since the projections are all based on the amount, frequency and periodicity. When the amount changes projections all become invalid.

Our suggestion is simple- simply cancel a recurring and start a new one using the card on file feature. This feature will make the bookkeeping simple and numbers and projections all are easily calculated.

As for stopping a recurring for a set time period. This feature is available and may easily be set up but it needs to be thought of changing the NEXT PAYMENT date rather than pausing it. Login to CONNECT and update the next payment for a recurring. For example you may set up the next payment as next year and change it again to next month. Please see: https://support.clickandpledge.com/s...ng_transaction

              Hope this helps.

Please let us know if we can be of more help & stay safe.
