  • Can Transactions Populate Membership Fields in Salesforce?

Hi, I know we can sell memberships using check out pages. However, how do we get that membership information into the correct Salesforce object/field.....such as membership start date and membership end date.

    Thank you,
    Neely

    Good day Neely,

I wonder if we can make the Custom Question mapping do this trick with the 7.3x release this week. Click image for larger version

But there is a problem here and that the date is fixed. It could be easy to add an option that says Today's date but it is not in this release. It seems like no matter how much we add we are always missing something

As you see, in 7.3x, you can map date field type.

Of course it can also be done with SKU and a trigger that updates the Contact's Membership start date with today's date and the end date also being triggered based on SKU and a date add function.

Not sure if what I am suggesting can help.

We have a blog post about 7.3x at: http://forums.clickandpledge.com/entry.php?b=31

      Dear CnP Support Dept.:

Thank you for the response. I will check to make sure I have the latest update and I'll read the blog post. This could be a tremendous help as editing transaction records to try to put info in the membership field is problematic. Perhaps it's even a first step toward the long awaited CnP Membership Management product......hmmmm! (smile)

Okay, I took a look at the information you suggested. My only thought on why what you suggested might not work is that membership information isn't actually a custom name/question. It is an actual NPSP field used to track recurring payments for memberships.

For example, in the attached contact view, all the 'donation' information that is listed, is actually for an annual membership that was purchased. It would be much more helpful to be able to have that information populate the 'membership' fields.Click image for larger version

          Neely,

I agree that my suggestion will not work given the NPSP fields you described.

I think a trigger that takes the SKU of the item and based on the SKU inserts a record in that object will work. Unfortunately it is not something that we currently offer natively. It is a bit tricky for us to do as a product feature but I believe it is easy to do given your instance.

Memberships may be set up with a set SKU, e.g. MEM-2013

and if the opportunity that is being created has an SKU matching MEM-2013 a record may be inserted into the NPSP object with today's date as well as the incremented date for expiration.

Sorry that natively I can't be of more help. It is definitely something to think about.
