  • Mapping of address fields to new Person Account records

I submitted a ticket on an address and email mapping issue on 3/21. I was told that I would contacted by a programmer about the issue and I never received a call nor was the problem fixed. I sent an email yesterday asking for help and the reply I received did not have anything to do with my issue.

    To recap:
My organization uses Person Accounts; for better or worse, we have them and we can't change that. When new person account records are created, the email address and street address are not transferred to their appropriate fields. The example below from my original email shows how it looks in the XML file.

This issue has been going on for over a month, without even any communication or resolution.

I would prefer a phone call, so I can tell that there is an actual human being there, but any response will be welcom.

Our organization has been trying to implement C&P, but we are still finding some issues in going forward. We are using Person Accounts (we know that Kamran hates them, but we already had them and there's not much we can do about it). So far our testing has been going well, but we have run into several glitches.

    1. Email is not being captured. The email is in the raw data as:
<BillingEmail>[email protected]</BillingEmail>, but doesn't show up anywhere in the record. Likewise, the street:
    <BillingAddress1>321 new address</BillingAddress1> doesn't show up;
City, State and Postal Code are OK. I notice that the above two fields are not actual SF field names, could that be the problem?

    Good day!

Our records show that the question has already been answered.

The email is not currently mapped. The email is not currently mapped and is included in the update to be released the week of May 13.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

      THIS IS NOT HELPFUL!!!
First, it ignores the problem with street address. In my original submission over a month ago and in the followup I just sent, I said that I had a problem with both the email address and the street address. Please read the full submission.

I also wanted to highlight that there has been no communication from CnP about the progress of the problem. In our earlier email conversations, I was told twice that a programmer would contact me to go over the details of the problem. This never happened and I received no other communications. Now I am told that the questions are answered and the ticket is closed.

I do not think that I am a chronic complainer. I recognize that Click and Pledge provides a great deal of value for amazingly little money. I know that it means that sometimes issues will take longer to resolve. But what is most frustrating is the lack of communication and clarity about the process. If I knew that I would have to put up with an issue for a period of time, I can deal with it. It's the confusing and inadequate responses I get that are making me crazy.

        Peter,

I apologize for the problem you are experiencing. One of our testers will test this scenario and we find out if other issues need to be resolved.

Were you asked to create a user for us to review your account? if not please do the following:

Let us know the email address once it is set up and we will login and review your account.

          Peter,

We have tested Person account posts many times and we can't find a single issue with it. Two of our testers have tested every scenario and the system works exactly as designed with the exception of email which we stated earlier. The email will be fixed in the next release.

The Billing Address posts correctly in all tested conditions.

Once we have the login info for your account we will check your instance and find out what is going on with your account.

Please post to this forum the UserID so we can test it and make sure you follow the instructions for setting up a user so we can get the verification email, etc. in order to login.

If I am understanding your response correctly, there is a fundamental misunderstanding about Person Accounts.

Person Accounts have their own set of address fields, called PersonMailingAddress.
BillingAddress is a fields for Accounts; Contacts have a field called MailingAddress but this is NOT THE SAME FIELD as PersonMailingAddress. If you look at the field structure of the Account object, this is pretty obvious. Please reference

to see how Person Account fields differ from standard fields.

Again, what I would like is some clarity. When I signed our company up with CnP, it was on the understanding that Person Accounts were now supported. If I had been told that this is not the case, I would have found another provider or found some way to work around it. Salesforce documentation is very clear about Person Account structure. To say that you support Person Accounts and not its basic field structure makes no sense.

As I keep writing, I love CnP and the work that you do, but I have been administering and developing in Salesforce for over four years and every time I bring up an issue, I am treated like an idiot. If I am incorrect about the nature of Person Accounts, then tell me so, but don't tell me that there is no issue.

              Peter,

I think you are misunderstanding what I am saying. I agree that we are 100% wrong and have absolutely no idea what we are doing. Now that we have established this let's move on.

For us to learn and fix the issue all we ask is that we login to your account and find out exactly what you are referring to. Naturally in our system we see it working as we expect it. I understand again that we are wrong in what we are doing.

Would you please create a user as instructed before and let us review your system. We gain absolutely nothing from having an application that has a bug in it as it will be the end of our company. We want to have a bug free application and are trying to only figure out how to fix it.

I appreciate if you help us by giving us the userid to follow through the config. I am hopeful that our team can learn from this experience.

                Good day!

We reviewed your account and added the following fields to our next release, due out the week of May 13, 2013:
                • PersonEmail
                • PersonMailingCity
                • PersonMailingStreet
                • PersonMailingCountry
                • PersonPostalCode
                • PersonState
                • PersonOtherCity
                • PersonOtherCountry
                • PersonOtherPostalCode
                • PersonOtherState
                • PersonOtherPhone
                • PersonOtherStreet

In the existing release we were adding the Contact information to the Account and not the fields you were looking for.

Please let us know if you wish to see additional fields being mapped prior to the release.
