  • Membership and Volunteer Management

Our organization is quite happy with the CnP Salesforce Payment Management and Event Management apps. (We are looking forward to the updates to the Events app, however!) Are there any plans to add Membership and Volunteer Management apps? Nothing I see in the Salesforce Appexchange really fits our needs and I think CnP would design a better Volunteer Management app than the one Groundwire has out now.

I hope to hear that these additions are being planned for.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

    Good day Neely,

The update schedule is set for the first week of September for Payment (PaaS 5.0) and Reporting (Report 2.0). The PaaS platform update is a major revision with most of the code totally re-written. We will soon schedule a pre-release webinar series addressing the changes.

The event management is scheduled for release in October. The release has been delayed since we had to release an entirely new package which will serve as the foundation of both PaaS & Event application. The API Class Library which is now on appExchange is the complete Click & Pledge API in Salesforce. The module provides native programming features for programmers to include payment forms in their Salesforce and authorize through our gateway. The API Class Library will be a required install for all modules moving forward.

As for membership - we are working on a membership platform in Salesforce which is scheduled for release in December. In its first release it will utilize the Salesforce Customer Portal as the membership portal for managing payments, etc.

Volunteer management: It is a natural progression of the membership portal and features will be included in upcoming releases. Please email us what you are looking for in these platforms so we can add them either to the initial release or in the future updates.

Thanks! This upgrade schedule sounds great. We have been with CnP for a little less than a year and it's made our move to Salesforce successful. We look forward to all the updates you mentioned. We're not too familiar with the Salesforce Customer Portal, but we'll make it our business to get up to speed.

Again, thank you and keep up the excellent work!

If possible, when designing the Membership Platform for Salesforce, please include a way for Membership Cards to be printed either by the new member on their own, much like event tickets, or for our non-profit to print and then mail them.

        Thanks!

          Hi,

Just wondering if there is an update on a possible Membership Management Module?

          Thanks!

            Hi Neely,

We are reconsidering the Salesforce Portal since it appears to be costly for most of our clients. We the comparison chart for the type of communities offered and the limitations they each offer for a robust solution to be built on top of the platform - I can have that emailed to you.

This has put our membership portal on halt until we can determine the best course of action. Currently a strong candidate is our Connect platform and that is what is being considered. Of course the challenge is each lookup into Salesforce contact information is an API call which further limits the interaction. A lot is being considered and need to be considered.

            Sorry can't be more specific.

              Hi,

Yes, the portal option is quite expensive. How about doing something similar to Volunteers for Salesforce? They now have a feature called Volunteer Personal Sites for users to edit and adjust their info and volunteer slots. Here is a short 4min video about it: http://youtu.be/WwC6Z2DJwaY

                Hi @Neely,

                Nice indeed. Interesting idea.

Have to figure out the security issues but I can see given a long GUID, one can fully customize this page. It has to be an expiring token where you can only use it once. A disposable page!

Interesting indeed. Will review and discuss and let you know what we can do.

We also need Membership functionality! Right now, I would just be happy if there was a way to create a discount code for memberships that would apply to all events of a specific category. Each member's discount code could have a start date and end date. Even better would be an option to tie to the start date and end date to the membership functionality already in the NPSP.

We would really like to move our tour ticketing from a 3rd party vendor into C&P Events, and this is one of the only points where we lose functionality. Our current vendor calls these membership discounts "subscriptions". Our Membership Coordinator logs the Membership on an opportunity in Salesforce, the Membership information rolls up to the Contact, then he must log in to our third party vendor and create a "subscription" discount for that membership. At least in this method, the membership discount will expire on its own if it is not extended.

In C&P Events- yes, he just needs to create a discount for the new member as he's doing now, and this discount can be cloned as we create new tour events, but in order to discontinue a membership- he would have to remove the discount from a tour (or block of tours) and then notify the staff member whose job is cloning the additional tours so they know which ones to clone- basically leaving a huge loophole for human error. With 1300+ tours in a year, and 546 current members, this is a pretty key issue.

Couldn't this functionality be added without the development of an entire membership module or a portal?

                      Any Membership Updates Available?

                      Hi CnP Support,

I'm just checking in to see if there are any updates on the subject of a CnP Membership Management feature.

                      Thanks,
                      Neely
