  • Using Item SKU in Transaction Campaign Settings

It would be very helpful if we could use Item SKU in the Transaction Campaign Settings box (in C&P Settings in Salesforce) to set the Transaction Campaign on the C&P Transaction. Item SKU is available in the Primary Campaign Source settings, but our receipts are based on the transaction campaign.

I know that this probably has to do with the multiple line items model, but if in Transaction Campaign Settings you could say If the Item SKU of any line item on the transaction matches this string (or starts with, contains, etc.), set the whole transaction campaign to a particular campaign, that would work great for us.

Or alternatively, if you could just check the SKU assigned from the custom questions (since that is on a whole transaction basis, not by line item) that would work too.

    Good day @kwclick5

Thank you for your suggestion. We always welcome new ideas and suggestions. I have brought this in our dev meeting to see the possibilities. We have to deeply analyse the Pros and Cons of this approach because for an example, a transaction may have 100 items and in this case we need to check the SKUs mapping for 100 items even for blank SKU's, as well as the Opportunity Primary Campaign Source settings, these process will cause a number of loops which makes the flow slow as well as it will cause the CPU time limit error.

However, we will anaylse and update you. For now, NO ETA.

Do you have any update on this? It would be extremely helpful as we start to plan out our end of year fundraising campaigns. Obviously, I wouldn't want it to cause CPU timeouts though!

Would it maybe be a possibility in Connect to overwrite the Form SKU based on the answer to a custom question? That could get really confusing I guess, but since you already check for the Form SKU, presumably it wouldn't mean more processing on the Salesforce side. My thought was that for the custom questions that have an Item SKU option (like dropdowns), having some kind of extra checkbox for Overwrite Form SKU and then another place to fill in a new Form SKU. (And it would fall back to the original Form SKU if that option wasn't selected on the form).

I do now notice that in the Transaction Campaign settings, I can assign the transaction campaign via a tracker value (which may have been for a while, I just didn't notice it before). I might be able to cobble together something using the trk parameter in an iframe and custom javascript based on an external dropdown field to update the trk parameter based on what campaign the person chose (with an embeddded form in a separate webpage). I found some posts on the forum here about how to add a tracker value to an embedded iframe (and one person who updated it dynamically based on the url).

When I watched the webinars about the new version 10, it sounds like there might be more customizability to do something like this. Do you have an update on when that is releasing? I think it was originally projected for Q4 of this year.

        Good day @kwclick5

It is not possible to overwrite the Form SKU in Custom Mapping. Please note that if you are doing a transaction from Funraiser or Teams, in this case, if the Custom Mapping for Funraiser and Teams didn't match at Campaign Settings (C&P Settings) then it will look for the C&P Transaction Campaign Map settings, and based on the conditions it will assign the Primary Campaign Source to the Opportunity.

Yes, in v10 you have more flexibility over the custom mapping with many conditions. It is scheduled for Q4 but right now I don't have an exact date.
