New Feature Request

I would request that the bar codes for the event tickets and also the name tages be QR Codes vs the 1/2D codes on them now or Microsoft Tag Codes. There are many mobile readers for QR codes and I have yet to find an iphone app that can read the codes printed on the event tickets and bar codes. I would love to see some kind system using the QR codes printed on the Event Tickets and Name Tages that you can scan their code at the door and have it register who attended at cross reference that with who purchased a ticket. I saw when you released the new bar codes in 2008 you released a message saying you would be offering a wireless mobile bar code app but we are now in 2011 and ti appears that still has not been created so I think being able to do it with QR codes would be great.

This actually is part of the next product which is due out in ~October'ish time frame. QR Codes / MS Tags will be the integral part which will also include a mobile component.

Oh forgot to answer your question regarding the mobile reader which was announced.

We actually spent a lot of time & money on that effort with Windows Mobile and scanners. The end product was about $600 with the Bluetooth scanner and only worked with Windows Mobile. It was announced but it was not received well by our clients..

The problem with the product was its cost and the company that we licensed the scanner from only worked with Windows Mobile ..

Times have changed a great deal since that release- phones no longer need an external scanner and all have QR code readers. Mobile web is also readily available and everyone has a smart phone so now it is a lot cheaper to offer a product for mobile check-in / check-out.

As stated this initiative will be out towards the beginning of the fourth quarter.
