Need more granularity in SKU map- add payment amount to criteria

My use case is this. When I setup the payment form for buying memberships, I can setup as many SKUs as I want with specific prices and then I can set one "other" SKU. The problem is I use a SKU corresponding to "name your price". I can map the autoresponder to send the appropriate email based on the "name your price" SKU and whether the price is in the range between one level and another. I would like to set a "membership level" custom field using the SKU and the amount to determine which level. However, SKU field map setting only works on SKU, it doesn't work include an ability to use payment amount in the same way that Autoresponder would. Would you extend the SKU field map to include other criteria, including payment amount (within a range) ?
