  • Cash Transactions

We would like to be able to use Swiper1 to record and process cash transactions alongside credit cards for receipting and cash flow. Can we add a payment type that is cash along with the ability to swipe a credit card? Square has this feature.

Also not sure what the QR Code Pay is and couldn't find any information about it in the documentation.

    Thanks,
    Kelly

    Good day!

Currently Swiper1 does not allow for cash transactions. It is in the road map as a future feature but not high in the list as of now.

As for the QR-Code pay- it is for pre-authorization. You may do a pre-authorization for a credit card and have a QR-Code sent to the patron via SMS. Later you may scan that QR-Pay code as sent via SMS to charge the card without using the credit card. The QR-Pay changes the same card using the encrypted token in the QR code.

The Pre-Authorization may be enabled in the Settings.

Hope that answers the question. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Thanks - I would like to add that this has come up as a point for our auditors wanting a paper trail for all cash transactions so would be a really helpful feature to add in the future to help us stay in line with best practices for cash handling.

Hi - Just wanted to circle back around and let you know that I still have high hopes that you will add the cash transaction functionality to swiper in the future. It would be amazing for us to use with our volunteers at events and would help keep our auditors happy with our cash handling procedures. I'm sure that we are not the only ones in this situation. Please let me know if you have thought more about it.

Next up the ability to add a dynamic Fair Market Value price when doing silent auctions so that it can go on the receipt in real time...

                Good day!

The FMV is currently in the system for each item. When you define an item you can enable the FMV and it will ask for it. Our assumption is that items have a fixed FMV and since you can add any number of items one could add all items with their FMV's. The price then can change on the fly. If you do not add a price for an item then the price will be an open field allowing you to add it when processing.

                Have you tested this feature?

Ah, yes but as things change and get added last minute or baskets get swapped around sometimes you just need the ability to say here is the item it sold for x and the FMV is y.

                    Good day Kelly Wilson

Sure .. that is what is the Cash Register is for. With Cash Register you may easily type a single item and state how much of it is tax deductible.

Any reason you think that does not work? The gallery is for adding items you know of and the cash register is designed for adding items as you go. The Swiper1 accommodates both.

We fill out the FMV for all items, however, I can't find a way to get Swiper1 to display the FMV on the patrons receipt and/or calculate the tax deductible amount based on purchased price - FMV?

                        Good day @amilks

We are not showing the FMV on the receipts. Yes, the tax deductible amount calculate as follows: Tax Deductible = Product/Item Price - FMV.

Hope that answers your question. Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
