  • Swiper 1 Functionality Question

    Dear CnP Support,

We've ordered some Swiper 1s and know they can be used on phones and tablets. Can they also be used on laptops if you put them in the audio jack? We're thinking of getting Chromebooks that could be used at events, as well as part of our office hardware and are unsure if the Swiper would work.

    Thank you,
    Neely

Ok, I found additional information that says just phones and tablets work. Thanks!

      Good day @Neely,

Why would you want to use the Swiper1 with a laptop? Its form factor and design is not suited for a laptop. If you wish to use a swiper with a laptop please use a 3 track USB card reader. See examples below.

The Virtual Terminal has an option called "Card Reader" which may be used for the exact scenario you described.

Using a 3 track card reader will address your use case.

Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.

Thanks. We don't really "want" to use a laptop, but were thinking of our hardware budget and thus were looking to see where we might cut costs and find some flexibility. Thanks for your response. We think it's worth it to go ahead and invest in some tablets/phablets.
