Edit recurring transaction date - one-off or permanent new date?

I have a donor who created a recurring transaction and did not understand he could choose the date for the recurring transaction. If I edit the recurring transaction with a new date for the next transaction, does that change the date for the next transaction only or for all subsequent transactions? Thanks.
