Receipt not displaying correctly in Outlook and Gmail

  • Receipt not displaying correctly in Outlook and Gmail

    The preview of the receipt looks fine but when I send a test to Outlook (issue 1 attachment), there is duplicated text at the bottom of the receipt. When I view the receipt in Gmail, there is a long long blank section after the last text of the receipt. Again, the preview looks fine. This is happening on my USACF- Designated gifts receipt.

      Thank you, it does look correct now. Can you please check all of the other receipts as well? I have only ever replicated a previous receipt so it's probably an issue on all of them. I do know it was doing the same thing on the "Team USA Well-Being" receipt.

        We have reviewed all of your receipt templates and found that there was an issue with the first 5 receipt templates which has been fixed now.

          Thank you, can you tell me what you did to correct this? I just updated text on one of our receipts and sent a test, it is now doing the same thing again.

            There were a few extra elements added to the receipts which were causing an issue. We have removed those extra elements.

              Is it something that I am doing? I just made edits to the text. I'd like to avoid this from happening again in the future as I make edits to these receipts sometimes on a weekly basis.

                  I suspect this is because you may have covered up an existing field when you dragged another field in. I have cloned your receipt and reset it - I actually typed it out again. You may reuse that one if you like. I tested it and the received email did not show the text twice.

                    The only thing I am changing is the content of the body of the email, I am not adding or removing fields. I even paste my content in notepad to remove any formatting issues prior to pasting in the receipt editor. I am going about this the wrong way?

                      Kristen,

                      There's really no way to tell without hovering over your shoulder as you're doing it. You could try getting a video screenshot, from opening the receipt,edit, save, send preview, review preview.

                      I can tell you when we do see big white spaces like you had, it's usually because the aspects of the receipt have gotten stacked, so that one element is covering up another one. In this case, there's an extra delete button that helps reveal where the extra element is. I did not see this in your case.

                      I have not seen a duplication of the text like you had.

                      The only other thing I would suspect would be that something extra came in when the receipt was cloned. That is, it existed when you first cloned it, and for whatever reason- didn't reveal itself in the original.

                      Here's my approach for this kind of issue: Deleting elements and recreating them to try to clean up anything extra. In this case, rather than copying and pasting text, I actually typed the text out again.

                      Try cloning from the example we created for new future receipts, and maybe you can avoid future problems.

                        Hi Amanda,

                        The receipt that you cloned is showing spacing issues as well. It looks okay in the editor but when you go to preview the receipt (see attached) you see the spacing after the signature. This is exactly how it appears when I view in Gmail. When I view in outlook, it adds my name at the bottom, almost like there is a hidden merge field, see attached. I did not make any edits to your cloned receipt before previewing.

                          You're right, I had viewed the test email in Outlook, and it did look better, but I see that the Billing First Name has been copied at the bottom. I'll keep looking into it and check back with you.
