  • How to test donation form

    Hi there,
I would like to test my donation form to ensure it is working correctly and that the donations are being attributed to the correct campaign in Salesforce. Can you tell me (step by step) how to test without having to enter in credit card information?
    Thank you.

    Hi lsoulet,

    Sure.

Click the 4 squares of the 'Launcher' at the top right in Connect

Click image for larger version Name:	2020-04-01_FRM lsoulet 03.jpg Views:	0 Size:	22.8 KB ID:	51908

Click "Virtual Terminal", and enter the information as you would for the donation form:

While I know you would feel more comfortable with the form itself, we have had issues with users posting a form in Test mode, and then becoming upset that their donor's donations did not actually go through, so the Test Mode feature was removed. We hope to offer it again in a future release, once we are certain it cannot be misused.

Thank you, Amanda. I tried another test donation in the virtual terminal and I am not seeing that either a contact or opportunity was created in Salesforce, nor am I seeing this entry in "Temporary Contacts" or "Data". I did, however, receive a confirmation that the order was successfully created (order#: 60647-200401162305266):
      Transaction processed successfully
      60647-200401162305266
      65f06c2f-e96f-4ed7-928d-7ddc00ac3a21
I just the mapping for Contact/Account and Opportunity and found some of the address fields were not mapped, but the first name, last name and email were. Any ideas on what setting might be missing?

If you're using NPSP, be aware of how this affects the email matching. C&P by default matches to the native Salesforce email field on the Contact. NPSP installation hides this field, adds fields for personal, work, and alternate emails, and then adds an automation that writes the value of one of those fields to the hidden Salesforce email field using the 'Preferred Email' dropdown.

We discuss this in our article on Donor Management and NPSP, and suggest matching against all those email fields. Which email field you map to is up to your organization, but you may want to add a Custom Mapping with a 'SKU is Any' and 'SKU is Blank' that will make sure that the 'Preferred Email' value is then set every time.

of course, only if youre using NPSP

            Hi there,
I have granted login access to C&P support for one month. We are indeed using NPSP and the email address on the C&P donation form is getting mapped to: C&P Alias Email, Email, Personal Email, Work Email and Alternate Email. I'm not sure I follow what the issue is with "Preferred Email", but I will read the article above to see if I understand what you mean by creating a SKU for it. Thank you.

Thanks for your help today, Amanda. Out of curiosity, is it possible to test a recurring donation? I don't see an obvious way to do that, but perhaps it could be done with a SKU if I assign a different SKU to recurrings versus one-times?

It's the same situation, only you have to wait to see if the payments are charged when you expect them to be
