  • Stop sending receipts after the 1st for recurring gifts

    I couldn't find this already being addressed, but apologies if it has. Is there a way to not send receipts each month (or whatever the installment is) for recurring gifts? We've had some donor complaints.

    Thanks.

    Good day @gvanullen

    I see that you have posted the above question in Connect channel. It is not possible to restrict the Connect receipt but the feature you are referring to is available in C&P Autoresponder in Salesforce.

      Thanks, but when I looked there, there are no email autoresponders set up in Salesforce. The receipt going out each month is the receipt set up in Click & Pledge...

        Please note that you need to create the C&P Autoresponder and set the conditions when to send. Please review the following KB article: http://help.clickandpledge.com/custo...ticles/1164739

        However, as stated above, there is no way in Connect to restrict the receipts based on recurring.

          Hoping to get some clarity on this issue. We are running into the same issue with our donors complaining about receiving these monthly receipts. However, our biggest issue is that during our biannual pledge drives, that's when we bring in new monthly donors. Whenever we create new payment forms for each drive, our existing monthly donors start receiving the receipt we want to send our new recurring donors through Connect when they sign up. Is the best solution to change the SKU order for these new monthly donors during the drive? This wasn't an issue before C and P made it impossible to select "no receipt" in the Salesforce and API settings in Connect. I really don't understand why "no receipt" is no longer an option in that field when we can select that option for all the other sections. And we have to use the Connect receipts rather than the autoresponder through SF during the drive.

            Please note that upon creating new payment forms, your existing monthly donors won't receive the receipt and it is nothing to do with your new payment forms. Your existing monthly donors will receive the receipt on their installments. If you don't want them to send the receipts on monthly/installments then you need to disable the Connect receipt and set up C&P Autoresponder in Salesforce with the condition to send them only on the first installment. (If "Send Receipt" option is enabled at the time of initial setup of the recurring, it will send the receipt until the goal has been reached(end of the recurring). If you want to stop that, you need to cancel the recurring and set again with that new settings.)

            Connect receipts and C&P Autoresponder in Salesforce are two different things but work for the same purpose. In C&P Autoresponder you may set a number of conditions based on that the respective receipt template will be fired: http://help.clickandpledge.com/custo...ticles/1164739

            Regarding the "no receipt", you may disable the Connect receipts completely by selecting DO NOT SEND for Patrons as shown below:

            You cannot disable the receipt for 3rd party applications in Connect since all our other products having an option within the product to control the receipt whether to send or not.

              Thank you for the clarification. However, still confused.... These receipts that are being sent to our existing recurring donors are definitely coming from Connect, not the autoresponders. We do not have autoresponders turned on in Salesforce for anything other than declined transactions. Also, for each Connect payment form, we use the customized receipt feature for each campaign and these receipts are not associated with the general receipt setting. We prefer using the Connect receipts over the autoresponders in SF. Whenever we create a new payment form, even if it is a one-time gift, our existing sustainers receive that receipt template. I do turn off the patron receipt in the Connect campaigns. Could this be related to SKI and campaigns? Or do we need to create an Autoresponder for recurring even if we prefer to use the Connect receipts for our purposes? C and P receipts are better for our pledge drives due to the fact that the Salesforce autoresponders don't fire until we clear out C and P temporary contacts, and during our pledge drives it's critical that our phone bankers can get information about the donation as soon as possible for on-air recognition.

                Also, if we cancel the recurring gift to set these up, doesn't that mean we'd have to get the donor's payment information again? Or is it possible to cancel a recurring and set up a new one without having to take that step? In my earlier questions about this, we were told we'd have to turn this off manually but this is first mention I've seen about having to cancel the recurring record as a first step.

                    I believe we've got it sorted out. Thank you. I was able to track down one final campaign that had the wrong receipt setting. I was just concerned we had to use the autoresponders to manage this but think we're set.

                      Finally trying to get these autoresponders working out of salesforce, and I wondering about the variable category called "Contact Posted Billing Info". Is that going to pull address info that came in via the connect form, especially if I haven't processed their temporary contact into salesforce?

                        @gvanullen

                        Yes, it will get pulled that information but you have to have processed the Temporary contact in order to fire the responder.
