I have set up a campaign in C&P and added the Salesforce campaign ID to both the campaign details and the form builder but the incoming donations are not reflecting the campaign information. Additionally, those campaigns that we've had set-up since we started with C&P are no longer feeding the campaign information into Salesforce. We recently had our C&P app updated but nothing else has changed. What do I need to do to troubleshoot this issue?

Good day @Jennifer
Please note that the Salesforce Campaign defined in Connect (affecting the entire transaction) will be deprecated from Connect. Please review C&P Settings > Opportunity > Primary Campaign rules to ensure Opportunities receive the correct campaign. Check 'Use Transaction Campaign' in your C&P Setting rules to retain the Salesforce Campaign specified in Connect; however, we recommend implementing SKUs as the best long-term strategy.

I appreciate the response and have done what you've suggested so I hope the issue is resolved but am a little confused. If we have never had anything set up as a primary campaign rule, how were the transactions mapping properly previously? Also, can you refer me to any resources that covers the distinction between campaigns and SKUs in Connect or just about using SKUs in general? Thank you.

Hi Jennifer,
Historically Click & Pledge offered donation forms for nonprofits. As we expanded our software to meet clients needs- we've encountered complications.- Our Salesforce clients had Campaigns in Salesforce, requiring a need to distinguish between a Salesforce Campaign and a Connect Campaign
- Clients needed to have more than one product within a transaction, requiring a need to distinguish between assigning Salesforce Campaigns at the transaction level or based on the item in the transaction.
In the past, if there was no Item 'level' Campaign specified, we assigned the Salesforce Campaign suggested for the Transaction. However, we've encountered clients that did not want this behavior- they wanted one item in the transaction to be assigned a Campaign, but another item not to be assigned a Campaign at all.
Because assigning Salesforce Campaigns is now getting pretty complex, we want to centralize this in our Salesforce Donor Management (PaaS) App.
Consider processing in 3 stages for each transaction- Patron fills out ANY of our Payment Forms - Connect Forms, Salesforce C&P Event Registration, Virtual Terminal, Virtual Terminal in Salesforce, Swiper1. Different look, same process.
- A Transaction record is added to the nonprofit's C&P Account with parameters suggested by its Connect Campaign.
- A copy of the Transaction Data is sent to Salesforce and creates a C&P Data Record. From there, C&P's Salesforce App takes over....
The C&P Data is in "XML", which gives the Data an outline format- because it needs to populate several different Data Levels in Salesforce.
Like this:- Transaction
- Total
- SF Campaign (transaction level suggested by Connect Campaign)
- Other field unique to Transaction
- etc...
- Item 1
- Item Name
- Item SKU (think 'product code')
- SF Campaign (suggested at the 'item level')
- Other fields unique to Item
- Item 2
- etc....
We can't change the way this data is structured- all of our apps send it this way.
BUT, the C&P Donor Management App in Salesforce does a lot more work after the C&P Data record is created, so C&P Settings is the LAST CONSIDERATION before the C&P Transaction record and the Opportunity are created.
By creating a plan for your nonprofit to implement SKUs, you can manage everything you might need to control for your Salesforce Data, and the conflicts between transaction campaigns and items campaigns are no longer an issue. SKU rules can be based on- SKU Is
- 'Starts With'
- 'Ends With',
- 'includes'
- 'any SKU'
- 'no (blank) SKU'
I generally recommend something like this:- DON-GEN - indicates general donation
- DON-HON, DON-MEM - indicates 'in honor' or 'in memory'
- DON-DM - direct mail campaign
- DON-ORG - Business Donation
- MEM-STU, MEM-IND, MEM-FAM - memberships for students, individuals, family
- DON-4010 - coding for accounting purposes
- DON-MEDICAL - donation to 'Medical Fund'
- GS-, or MERCH- for tshirts, merchandise, etc...
- EVT-TIX, EVT-SPO - event tickets and sponsorships
It's especially useful with Recurring Donations spanning multiple years when you want to record future payments in the new fiscal year's campaign, but leave the old payments in the prior year- because you're defining the Campaign on when the transaction is processed, not on when it was created.
If that's too 'surface level' - take a deep dive into understanding SKUs with our SKU Tutorial
Make sense? ~ Amanda, C&P Customer Advocate

Good day @Jennifer
In case of C&P Virtual Terminal, you may add the number of item in a transaction:
Hope that helps.Regards,

I'm sorry, I realized late last night that I should have been more clear. I understand how to do multiple items through the virtual terminal; but, what we need is something like a shopping cart that can be tied to a campaign page. Is that possible?

Connect donation forms only support 'multiple items' for donations if you use the 'Multiple Payment' Option in the Payment Settings, but this is designed for one donation that can be designated to different funds- so the Patron sets the 'price'.
We will be adding shopping cart functionality to the next major release of Connect, currently scheduled for the end of the year or early next year.
If your nonprofit has a WordPress website, we do have an integration with WooCommerce shopping cart that might be an option for you.Regards,

Thanks so much for the response. We do use WordPress so I'll talk to our marketing person about WooCommerce. Can you point me to any documentation about how to integrate these two that would help us figure it out in case she is unfamiliar with it?
