Discount on total transaction

Would like to offer a total discount at our online store tomorrow for Cyber Monday, but cannot figure out how to add a total discount off? Is this really not possible or is there a work around available?

Help! Our organization is a volunteer and the merchandise committee already sent out an email blast advertising the offer, but didn't check first to see if we could actually implement the discount in the system. Now we are back peddling to fix by tomorrow.

It is possible and easy to do.

Please review the following:

You need to first define a discount and then apply it to each product. It is best if you make it quantity driven and make the minimum quantity 1 and leave the maximum blank. Once you have defined the discount go to each product and apply the defined discount to that product in the Product's Settings area.
