  • Set minimum quanities for products or do a per item discount?

We are doing an event where registration will be $15 for a single person, $10 for two or more.

I would like to have one ticket option, where after you select more than 2 tickets, it applies a $5 discount to the total. Unfortunately, because the only options are either to do a hard dollar discount from the total or a % discount, I can't do a 33.33333333% discount and make it an even number.

So, is there a way to do a discount per item?

The other solution (Read: WORKAROUND) would be to set up two product options or products, one with a max quantity of 1, the other with a minimum quantity of 2 and just do different prices. However there is no option to limit product quantities.

    Good day.

The discount is based on % and a fixed amount.

I suggest you set the discount for amounts greater than $15 and apply a $5 discount without a percentage amount.

Does that not answer what you are trying to do?

But applying a $5 discount would only deduct $5 from the final amount. Our goal is for $5 to be deducted per item.

Ex: If I buy 5 tickets at $15 a peice, the discount would be $25 for a final total of $50. The way the discount is set up, putting in a $5 discount would give the person a total of $70.

          Good day!

Your pricing discount model will be quite hard to implement. The only suggestion I have is to give 33% discount for quantities above 2.

At 5 people the total will be $70.35 and your target is $70. The following is a sample at 33% for up to 10 tickets.

Quantity Ticket Price Discounted Discount (33%)
          1 $15 $15.00
          2 $30 $20.00 20.1
          3 $45 $30.00 30.15
          4 $60 $40.00 40.2
          5 $75 $50.00 50.25
          6 $90 $60.00 60.3
          7 $105 $70.00 70.35
          8 $120 $80.00 80.4
          9 $135 $90.00 90.45
          10 $150 $100.00 100.5
Of course you can simply give 30% discount for quantities above 2 and it will work. Discounts are designed to entice people to buy more than 1 ticket and giving a discount of $5 per item for quantities of 2 or more is not much different than simply stating that 2+ will get 30% discount. It is all psychology.

          Hope the suggestion helps.

We did not join C&P to have someone review and suggest best practices regarding event marketing and ticket sales, it was supposed to be for ease of use and functionality. I do not see where our discount model will be hard to implement, especially giving the number of ways to accomplish it.

There are many sites that set "minimum" quantities as part of their checkouts, so if there were a product option to set a minimum quantity, that would be one easy fix. The other would be to establish a way to offer a per item hard discount, because if I wanted to offer $5 off a $15 ticket, I would like my checkout and cart solution to fill that need.

              Good day!

Sorry the system cannot do what you are trying to do. There are many features and combinations that cannot be done.

The system allows discount based on the features you see in the window.
