  • How can I set a minimum donation amount?

We are having a lot of issues with fraudulent donations being made to our account in amounts usually less than $20 (people "testing" the credit card number to see if it's valid). Is there a way for us to set a minimum donation amount on our checkout pages?

    Good day!

Setting up a minimum transaction will not work as those committing these fraudulent attempts process with varying amounts.

Our fraud algorithm detects over 99% of all these transactions if not 100% most of the times. Those that get away are tracked and will be caught in a short period.

Based on what I see on your account, majority, if not all fraud attempts are blocked.

The best solution for this is for letting us know if a fraud attempt has gotten through so we can review it.

Almost all of our fraud attempts have been under $20, so setting a minimum donation of $20 would be very beneficial for us. I don't really understand why you wouldn't allow an organization to set a minimum amount. Maybe an organization doesn't want to spend the time or money to process $5.00 transactions, even if they are legitimate.

At any rate, we always credit the transactions manually almost as soon as we receive them via our virtual terminal (usually within a day or two). However, recently we've incurred three $35 chargeback fees because somehow there is a loss of communication between Click & Pledge and TransFirst about these. I've been spending hours trying to get the fees refunded to us (I have proof from Transfirst that we credited the transactions) but have been unsuccessful so far. Is there something we should be doing differently or in addition to crediting these transactions manually via the virtual terminal within 1-3 days after receiving them?

Strange - this is the third time I've attempted to reply. For some reason, my replies are not being posted. I have a few questions:

        1. In a recent case, we received two fraudulent donations from the same credit card, each for $1. As soon as we received the receipts, we went in and credited the cardholder. However, we were still charged two $35 chargeback fees for which we are still trying to receive a refund from Click & Pledge. What should we have done differently? We don't want to be charged fees for any further fraud transactions. By the way, we have Fraud Protection turned on.

        2. What do you mean by letting you know when we receive a fraud transaction? How do we go about doing that?

        3. Almost all our fraud transactions are under $20 so it would be extremely helpful to be able to set a minimum donation amount to weed those out. Also, it would seem an organization should have the option to do that because maybe they feel it's not cost effective for them to process very small donation amounts, both in terms of merchant fees as well as staff time (acknowledgements, reporting, etc.).

          Good day!

The forum works based on reputation - the more you post the higher the reputation and faster the posts will display. Initially the posts have to be reviewed and approved. This is the ensure spammers are not getting through. Our forum is target of massive spam and if left unchecked will make the forum useless. Once we are sure you are a client & your posts are valid the system will post them in real-time. Typically this happens after the 3rd post.

          As for your answers:

REPLY: These refunds are issued by Transfirst or the gateway being used. I have noticed the Accounts department to review your case.

          2. What do you mean by letting you know when we receive a fraud transaction? How do we go about doing that?

REPLY: Please create a support ticket at http://help.clickandpledge.com with the Order Number.

REPLY: I will request this feature. We have never had this request- we have had requests for maximum donation which is a requirement for political fundraising and that is already a feature in the system. The minimum has never been requested. I will make it a request. I assure you $1, while true in your case, is not the norm and fraudsters use any amount of money as they simply want to authenticate the card. We will make sure to add the requested feature.
