problem using special characters in email address in Virtual Terminal

Hi there,

In Salesforce, the C&P Virtual Terminal doesn't appear to allow the use of a plus sign (+) in email addresses. Since Google (and other email providers) does allow the plus sign, I can see this becoming a problem. Is this something you can add?

Hi Anna,

Yes it can be added but it has other ramifications across the entire platform. I will review our API and back-end systems to make sure all can handle a + sign.

Google allows the + sign for specifying a mailbox and we have to think how we can accommodate it - I agree.

We have resolved this issue and it will be updated in version 7.4xxx due out before the end of the month.

With this new release we will comply ~90% with the RFC standards per: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address

A few of the characters will not be supported since various gateways don't support some characters in the email.
