  • ECheck Authorization Code Question

    Hi there,

We've received a handful of echecks since launching our Click and Pledge payment system, and I've noticed that the Authorization code on all transactions remains "Check is not verified".

Could you clarify what this means, and whether this code will change to verified at some point?

    Thanks!
    Anna

    Good Day!

The transaction still goes through. That just means that the authorization code didn't have time to send the approval back before the transaction went through. echecks usually take around 72 business hours to be deposited.

      Anna,

      One more point about eChecks:

eChecks are typically cleared between 3-5 days, and in most cases 72 hours (3 days). The gateway does not tell us when the check has been deposited or cleared and we have no way of knowing when the check settles.

The status will never change in the system since we are not made aware of its clearing. The eChecks always stay as "Check is not verified". eChecks are not like credit cards and we do not receive a real-time authorization of the check. Check data is sent as batch to the clearing house and they are submitted for clearing to the respective bank. When they are cashed the deposit will be made and if they bounce you will be notified.

      Hope that answers your question.

Thanks for your detailed response. That clears up my question about the Authorization Code.

One more question: Is there a field on the Opportunity or Transaction that indicates if/when an echeck has bounced, is declined, or is fraud? Or will we simply be notified by email? Specifically, will all echecks come in with the Transaction Result "Authorized" or do they come in as "Pending" until it is deposited?

        Thanks!

          Anna,

The eChecks are handled by bank and are deposited into your bank account without any feedback to us by the banks. That is one drawback of eChecks.

You need to manually check their status in Salesforce. Banks settle the check on their own schedule and once bounced we are not notified.

I wish I could be of more help.
