Catalogue page redirect

Hello,

I am very new to C&P... in creating a Catalogue checkout page, what does the status "Redirect" mean? I am having trouble finding a detailed explanation of exactly what this means.

The redirect is for when a page that is live is no longer needed and you wish to redirect people that go to it to end up with another page.

Use case:

A newsletter is sent with a link to a checkout page. Later you decide to no longer use that page and wish to send people to another checkout page. Without redirect people clicking on the newsletter will either go to the old page or if disabled will see a disabled message. Redirect helps with this scenario.
