Default System Receipt

Our auto-generated receipt email lists all the custom questions and answers that are on the registration form. I would like to be able to customize the receipt, but I can find anywhere within the event that I am able to do that. How can I customize the receipt?
Also if the receipt is for an event that does not require payment, the title of the receipt is FREE. I would like to have that eliminated.

API Generic receipts have limited customization. You may use the Registration Emails feature in which you can customize the receipt and send based on the conditions:
