  • Maximum view state size limit (135KB) exceeded when trying to update

    Hi,
We just installed the Library 2.0 and PaaS 8.1008. When we try to follow the Versions 7 to 8 post installation instructions and click the "Update Map Fields" button on step 1, we get the following error:
Maximum view state size limit (135KB) exceeded. Actual view state size for this page was 145.203KB
Any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi,
I granted the login access. Do I need to send our Organization info to someone?

Please just post here your Salesforce Organization Id. We always need to know the Organization ID so we can locate the account in our license manager.

Can we continue to use C&P in Salesforce until the issue is resolved? Or should we wait?

              Good day!

Yes please continue using the system. Our developers are trying to duplicate the issue and find out the cause.

We should have an answer by tomorrow..

                Hi Jenny,

We have reviewed your instance and have spent a great deal of time trying to find a work around for your issue. Here is the issue:

                - You have 35 packages installed including the Click & Pledge packages.
                - Contact, Account, and Opportunity has over 100 custom fields

Simply put you have pushed Salesforce to its limit and the governor limit is a Salesforce error. We are working on minimizing the impact of the C&P Settings but Salesforce returns this error outside our application. Since we are mapping custom questions into the Contact fields - the retrieval of all those extra fields is causing the limit exceeded.

We have to do some major work and figure out how to address that many fields in the lookup. One solution is to separate the C&P Settings into multiple pages which is in the works but won't be ready for another month. Not sure if that will solve the problem but it will make the interface a bit less crowded and faster. This may reduce the page view size and help with more fields but again there is a limit no matter what we do.

Sorry that at this time we can't be of much more help. That many fields in those objects is a major problem in Salesforce.
                Regards,

                  Hi,
Would you know if there is a way to uninstall the latest update without uninstalling C&P? I'm not sure we want to keep the update if we can't do the set up for it.

                    good day!

We are coming up with a new update next week and will make a few modifications to possibly help with this.

Please note that C&P Settings has not changed in release 8 and it is the same page and program. We have only added the lookup field as an option. Reverting back will not help.

We will be testing the new update against your account if you want to test if it works.

Ok great. I just didn't know if continuing to use the newest update without being able to do the set up instructions would cause more problems, but it doesn't sound like it will. Thanks for trying to come out with an update so quickly that may help us out!

                            Thank you.

We have a patch that we would like to test with your instance. This issue is extremely instance sensitive - meaning the number of installed applications, custom fields, etc. all have a direct affect on this issue. Is it OK for us to install the patch and test it with your instance? if it does not work we will remove it.
                            Regards,
