  • Max Donation Amount mystery

A donor is reporting not being able to checkout with a transaction amount of greater or equal to $10,000 but less than $50,000 on an AMEX.
My checkout page in C&P portal says the Max Donation Amount is $50,000
I have had gifts of similar size go through within the last couple months but they have all been recurring gift situations and most through Virtual Terminal. Last successful single transaction of similar size was Dec 2012.
Is there a limit on my C&P account I cannot identify?
Is this potentially a limit through Transfirst?
Does something need to be modified in my FaaS?

Or is it a limit on my donor's side, his card?

We were able to replicate the error when using a comma or other special character such as $ in the Other field on our FaaS form. Any advice for our web guys? Can the form translate the format from 1,000 or $1,000 to 1000 upon submission? or can the error message be modified to specify the reason for the error?

        Good day!

We heard back from Transfirst and there are no limits on your account for the transaction. You may want to Contact AMEX since it was AMEX that has declined it.

As for the comma and dollar sign. The API will treat comma differently depending on the following node:

The Decimal Mark will set the form to process comma as a thousand separator or period.

The dollar sign is a different issue & one that we can't possibly do anything about. The API requires certain formats for each field and your post has to abide by those rules. The web developers have to force the field to be a numeric field and don't allow characters to be passed on to the post.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
