  • Duplicate Transactions

    Hi,
In the last 24 hours, we've had 2 duplicate transactions. The donor pressed the submit button once, but two C&P transactions were created. The transactions had the exact same timestamp on them, which leads me to believe either a donor hit submit twice or there was a hiccup in the system. We've tried to reproduce the problem, but have been unable to. Can you offer some insight as to how this may have occurred?
    thanks,
    Kelly

    Good day Kelly,

Before we try to do diagnostics it is best if we get all the facts first.

Time stamps don't mean as much as the Order Numbers. Please post the Order Numbers for the transactions so we can find them.

You are using a custom form that you have developed and are using the API. The API simply processes what posts to it. Are you disabling the SUBMIT button when it is clicked?

Thanks for looking into the issue. The transaction numbers are:
      1306191303563980000

      and

        Good day @KHardebeck,

As you listed these were processed as 2 transactions back to back so the card holder was charged twice. You need to issue credit for one of them.

Your form is a custom form developed by you so whatever you post to the API gets processed. API has no way of knowing if a request is duplicate since developers use the API for many different types of applications and it is designed to process what is posted to it.

I am assuming that you are not blocking the SUBMIT button from double clicks. The way we avoid this issue in our system is by disabling the SUBMIT button once it is clicked, therefore not allowing the end use to double click it.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
