  • Mailchimp Integration Not Working with FaaS

    Hello,

    I've been working with Kamran through the office hours to try to figure out this problem and he asked me to post the issue I am currently having to to the forum.

    I have worked with developers to use FaaS to create our donation and event pages on our website (https://uaspire.d3vserv.com/events/test-event), looking at the manual the coding that is currently being used to direct sign ups to our mailchimp email list appears to be correct. I've set up our checkout forms to allow for mailchimp through the Click & Pledge online portal.

    It seems like everything is set up properly, it is just that the email address information isn't being passed through to mailchimp.

    Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Chris,

    Are you using "real" email addresses or fake addresses for testing?

    MailChimp sends an email to the address being submitted for subscription asking for verification. Without the verification it won't add the email to the list.

    Are you receiving any emails from MailChimp? of course if you are using fake addresses the answer is no but we need to make sure before we start reviewing your code.

        MailChimp requires approval of all requests for subscription. Did you use a valid email?

          Hello,

          I just saw that my response to the email didn't post to this forum:

          I was not using a real email address previously. I did just try it with a real email address, and mailchimp never sent a verification email to that address. The autoresponder receipt did work, so I do know that the email address is functional.

            We have tested this extensively and it works without any issues in our test accounts.

            We think the issue is with your MailChimp settings or API. We have no way of checking this but our tests all result in an email being sent back from MailChimp asking for confirmation for addition to the list. One thing we have noticed- for some reason MailChimp will not send confirmation if you send a test and then delete it and then send again - in other words MailChimp apparently has an internal cache that keeps track of removals and testing with an email that has once been removed seems not work.

              Hi C&P Support Team,

              We are also not able to get the MailChimp FaaS integration to work. We have set up the form fields as described at http://manual.clickandpledge.com/For...r_Subscription and entered the MailChimp API key and list names in our C&P profile. The form submission occurs without any errors, but no signup confirmation message is sent to the email address, and the email address is not added to the MailChimp list. Can you help?

                Good day Kathryn,

                Please submit the link to the form to http://help.clickandpledge.com so we can review the setting. Please make sure to reference this forum post.

                Before submitting the link please make sure you are not mandating the first and last name with mailchimp. The integration sends only the email address and NOT the first or last name. We have seen this cause an issue with other developers.

                  Hi C&P Support Team,

                  Per your recommendation, I tried changing our MailChimp field settings to make the first and last name optional instead of mandatory. This resolved the issue, and when a user submits the form, they now receive a MailChimp signup confirmation email, as expected.

                  Can you please add a note about the MailChimp field settings to the FaaS documentation at:

                  It will be helpful for other FaaS Developers and save them some time and frustration.
