  • Dates of recurring transactions

    Hi there,
We've been having good luck with Click and Pledge's FaaS functionality--thanks for a cool tool!

A question: when someone chooses to give a recurring donation, is it possible to expose to donors when exactly the donation would come out of their account every month? I could see how this might be complicated because the recurrence period is variable (could be every every 2 weeks/month/2 months/etc)… So, if it's not possible to allow donors to set the date that the payment will happen, can we at least tell them when it'll be?

    Thanks!
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

The recurring information is provided in the receipt. Details about the recurring and the period and end date are included in the receipt that is sent immediately upon the authorization.

Are you looking for anything more?

I was curious about the possibility of allowing the donor to set the exact date when money will be withdrawn from their account--e.g., for a biweekly donation, "first Tuesday of the 2-week period" or the like. If that's not available through FaaS, no problem. Just letting people know that the precise timing of the withdrawals will be in their receipt is fine. Thanks.

        Good day!

I see what you are referring to now.

Unfortunately that is not possible since it can become quite complex. We allow for Week, 2 weeks, month, 2 months, quarter, 6 months, year - and while it is possible to do that calculation for week & 2 weeks it is not for the rest of the periods since it is just a matter of when in the month, e.g. May 1, 2, 3, etc. and not Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.

We experimented with the idea of having how many days or weeks, e.g. every 3 days but the interface became too complex and not something that would have been used by many. Programming is easy but the user interface for an average donor to intuitively understand is a bit more complex.

Hope that clarifies it a bit more. Of course we are open to suggestions and are always open to add new features if it is considered useful by others as well.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I wouldn't want the job of making that choice intuitive to everybody in the world... No worries!
