  • WooCommerce plug-in causing creation of custom questions

    My client is using the WooCommerce plugin to log transactions in Salesforce. Works fine. But we're also getting the creation of many custom questions in Salesforce, from "Custom Fields" included in the C&P Data. These seem to be related to fields on the website form that have to do with presentation on the form itself, such as hide_banner. We use SKUs to tell us everything we need to know about the ordered items. Can you advise on how to avoid the creation of custom questions for WC transactions, either in how the data is sent to the WC plugin, or how it's handled in Salesforce?

    Note that on another part of the website we're using the Gravity Forms plugin. We intentionally use custom questions there and they work as expected.

          I was waiting for our web developers to finish renovations to my clients site. The website is using WooCommerce and the C&P WooCommerce plugin. Tested again today and the WooCommerce checkout is still creating custom question records in Salesforce for metadata fields on products in the cart that are irrelevant to the order. In the C&P data record, all the fields are prefaced with <customfield>. Everything else related to the order comes through correctly.

          Is there a way to exclude certain metadata fields from being sent to C&P, or to prevent C&P from creating custom questions from certain metadata fields in Salesforce? That is, is there way to say "ignore this stuff"? We don't actually need any of the <customfield> data coming in from our WooCommerce checkouts, so if there isn't a way to block specific keys, is there a way to block all <customfield>s?

          The web developers do not want to make changes to WooCommerce code or to the C&P WooCommerce plugin code due to concerns about maintaining such changes. We would like a standard way to filter the creation of the custom questions.

          I have granted access to Salesforce, and provide this example:
          C&P Data for a transaction from WooCommerce with customfields that are irrelevant to the order: CnP Data-220624-0047001

              The web developer says that FTP and login access to the website will not help here. He provided this snapshot of the code in the C&P WooCommerce plugin that sends all metadata except for “total_sales” in order to illustrate that he would like a way to specify other metadata fields to be filtered:https://share.cleanshot.com/jBwJVt. Should I put this information in a support ticket? Alternatively, the web developer has offered to talk with the support representative.

                Our developers need your FTP and Website login details to see how you have set up the custom fields in your instance and the configuration. Without reviewing it we can't help you with the solution.
