  • Question re: Wordpress integration with Shopp plug in

Our web developer has communicated the following to me:

"The current hosting set up (Wordpress.com) will not allow you to use secure URLs (https://) on the Shopp plugin. So if you would like to set up Shopp plugin to have secure access it is not possible with the current hosting you are in. If you would like to install SSL to your website please let us know so that we can come up with a solution."

Before I reply, I would like to more from Click and Pledge. I found Shopp to be the advised plug in for Wordpress when using Salesforce. If so, why would it not also be secure? What do you recommend?

    Good day John,

Your web developer is right- you have to have SSL before you can use our plugin. Since you will be accepting credit cards the page has to be SSL.

Here is a link that will help you: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-https/

Please let us know once it is set up so we can test your site.

SSL needed for shopp plug in

I have a follow up question. If I do not set up the shopping cart, and only set up your donations page, do I need to set up an SSL for our current Wordpress studentmobilizationcentre.com site for donations? If so, I guess I will want the shopping cart on the studentmobilizationcentre.com site. However, if I don't need the SSL for the donations page on the studentmobilizationcentre.com site, I would like to set up a completely new site with dedicated shopping cart for our multiple internship programs listing at ipoconnection.com with SSL.

        John,

Linking to our donation forms and pages does not require an SSL connection. The link opens a secure page and as a result you don't need to have SSL on your page. You ONLY need SSL if you are hosting the forms locally on your website, e.g. WordPress.

If you collect credit card information then the site that hosts the form has to be secure. Our pages are secure natively and your links to them will also be secure.

So - Shopp Plugin for WordPress resides on WordPress and as such requires SSL per PCI mandates. You don't want to post credit card numbers on a non-secure page - our API will reject the post if the referring URL is not secure.

Hope the above answers the question.
