    Hi guys,

Are there any known issues with the latest Swiper1 app running on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)? I'm using a Nexus 7 (2013) tablet and the app crashes immediately on launch. I've tried 2 different tablets; same problem.

Also, it'd be ideal if you could update this table of known working devices and OSes. Thanks!

      Good day @DaveCort,

We have identified an issue with the new permission policy of Android and are working on a fix. The fix may go live tomorrow as it is currently under test.

With Google's new policy for Android 6.x, every permission has to be individually approved. This includes SMS, Email, Geolocation for event, audio jack control, web service calling, etc. -- there are almost 9 prompts that need to be approved prior to installation. What a pain but we have no choice. All features used by Swiper have to be individually permitted to work. Before they were only one prompt.

Sorry but with each update everything changes. The update will be released by Monday the 15th, if we don't make it tomorrow.

I totally understand. Thanks for the update. Good to know I don't have to downgrade all of my new tablets!

          Hi there,

I just checked the Google Play App store this morning, and it looks like the latest version is still 6.000.026 from Feb 5. Any update on the release of the fix for Android 6? Thanks!

Sorry Dave but we are still testing.

We have identified an issue with Nexus 6P which appears not to have a solution since the stereo microphone does not support external devices. We are building an app with a warning for Google's Nexus 6P and will hopefully finish the test this week.

            Sorry for the delay.

No worries. I've worked in software development. I know how unpredictable the testing/debugging phase can be. If you guys could release an interim version that works with devices other than the 6P, that would be great. Just as a data point, my org only uses Swiper1 with Android tablets (e.g. Nexus 7 2013).

                Hi guys,

                It's working now, thanks!

Another question, though. You say above the new release supports: "Custom Payment Type, e.g. Cash, Pay later, etc."." How does this work? I see an "Others" option on the payment screen which adds a "Payment type" text field to the form. Is the idea that we can type "cash", "check", "IOU" etc. here? I was expecting to see menu item choices for "cash", "check" etc (ideally using the settings from our C&P virtual terminal) to avoid typos.

                Thanks!
                ·Dave

                  Good day!

This is correct. Simply go to the VT Settings and add the text in the default setting. All options will appear as a pull down menu once you select "Other" as the payment option. See example below:

In the C&P Settings > Virtual Terminal

I hope that answers your question.

These transactions, being custom payment type, are free and do not have any fees associated with them since they are not being posted to the gateway or settled by Click & Pledge.

Please let us know if we can be of more assistance.

                    Good day!

I just noticed that you had posted this to the Swiper1 forum. The setting in Swiper1 is in Swiper1 and not in the Virtual Terminal setting in Salesforce. The above is in reference to your question as it was referring to the Virtual Terminal. Swiper1 is not referenced as a Virtual Terminal.

                    In Swiper1 > Settings > Merchant Profile

You may add any number of Custom Payment Types and then select it at the time of payment.

Hope that helps. If you need further clarification please let us know.

                      Got it, thank you!

For what it's worth, it wasn't showing up on my iPad Mini until after I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Must have gotten into some weird state.
